New For 2009 - 2010...
Washburn Hockey Association (WAHA) and Southwest Hockey Association (SWHA) are joining forces to form what will be known as a “co-op”. At this time it is not a full merger; both still administer independent associations with independent leadership boards. We will be branding this new co-op as "Minneapolis Hockey" as well as adopting the "Storm" logo / brand already in use. This new co-op and branding partnership will apply to our WAHA Mite program. This means all WAHA and SWHA kids will be skating together at times for the Mite and Mighty Mite levels. We are adopting the term “Mighty Mites” to replace what was formerly known as “Mini Mites” – our youngest and introductory level.
We see great benefits coming out of this cooperative to maximize our joint programs’ efforts and resources and are excited about the future of Minneapolis Hockey! The result will be a more competitive hockey program and a more inclusive program for players of all ability levels in order to provide a positive experience for all kids no matter their background or goals for their youth hockey experience.
